Review Internal and External Links

The Links section under Guidelines lists every link in the draft, filterable by All, Internal, and External. It is a navigator for checking links, not a link builder, so add and remove links in the editor itself.

The Links section lists every link in your draft so you can check them in one pass rather than hunting through the article.

Find it under Guidelines β†’ Keywords β†’ Links in the right-hand panel.

What the Panel Does

Three filters, each showing a count:

  • All
  • Internal, links to your own site
  • External, counted by unique host

Each link has two actions:

  • Jump to link in article, which moves the editor to it.
  • Open link, which opens it in a new tab.

If the draft has no links you see "No links in this draft yet." If a filter is empty you see "Nothing in this group yet."

What it Does Not Do

This panel is a navigator, not a link builder. There are no add, remove, or repair controls in it.

To change a link, jump to it and edit it in the article using Insert link on the toolbar, or Add link and Remove link on the selection toolbar.

Links are the part of a generated article most worth your attention, because they are the part most likely to be wrong in a way that embarrasses you publicly.

These come from your sitemap, so they point at pages that existed when the article was written.

Check the anchor text matches the destination. A link labelled "our boiler servicing page" should go to boiler servicing, not to the general services page.

Check relevance, not just validity. A working link to a barely related page is worse than no link.

Look for missing opportunities. If the article mentions a service you have a page for and does not link to it, that is a free improvement. The Internal links structure metric shows your count against target.

Open each one. This is the step people skip and the step that matters most. External references point at pages NarraSEO found during research, and pages move, paywalls appear, and content changes.

Check the source is one you are happy to endorse. A link is a recommendation. Check it is not a competitor, not a low-quality aggregator, and not a source your industry would consider unreliable.

Check the claim survives. If the article cites a statistic, confirm the linked page actually contains it. This is the difference between a citation and a decoration.

The External filter counts unique hosts, which makes over-reliance on one source visible immediately.

Notes

Internal links depend on your sitemap URL being set in Brand Profile β†’ Business. Without it, NarraSEO has no reliable list of your pages, and articles come out with few or no internal links.

Internal and external links are both enhancements, and can be turned on or off per article or set as defaults in Brand Profile β†’ Enhance.

Ask Narra handles "Add more internal links" as an instruction, which is one of its suggested prompts.

The References signal under Guidelines β†’ GEO reflects external references, because cited claims are more likely to be quoted by AI answer engines.

Quick Pre-Publish Check

  1. Open Guidelines β†’ Keywords β†’ Links.
  2. Filter to External and open every link. Fix or remove anything broken, irrelevant, or unsuitable.
  3. Filter to Internal and confirm each anchor matches its destination.
  4. Ask whether an obvious page of yours is missing, and add it.

On a typical article this takes about three minutes and is the check most worth doing every time.
