Fill your Calendar from Saved Keywords
The Keywords band on the Content Calendar can auto-fill open slots from your keyword planner, turning a saved keyword list into dated articles across your publishing schedule.
Last updated 1 day ago
This closes the loop between research and publishing. Keywords you saved in Keyword Planner become dated articles on your calendar, without you placing each one.
Before you Start
A saved keyword list in Keyword Planner. If you have none, start with keyword research, which is included in your plan.
A publishing frequency set in the Schedule band, since that determines which slots exist to fill.
Steps
- Go to
Sidebar β Plan β Content Calendar. - Open the Keywords band. It offers adding topics, or auto-filling open slots from your keyword planner.
- Choose to auto-fill from your keyword planner.
- Pick the list to draw from.
- Confirm.
Open slots on the calendar are filled with topics from the list, dated according to your publishing frequency.
Shortcuts sit alongside: Open keyword planner and Research keywords, so you can go and build a list if you do not have one.
What "Open Slots" Means
Slots come from your publishing frequency. At 2Γ week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, your open slots are those days going forward.
Auto-fill uses slots that are empty. It does not overwrite articles you have already scheduled, so you can run it repeatedly as you add keywords.
Getting a Good Result
Shortlist first. Refine your list in Keyword Planner before filling the calendar, rather than dating every keyword you have ever saved. The shortlist exists for this.
Keep lists coherent. A list built around one topic area produces a calendar that reads as a strategy. A list of unrelated keywords produces a calendar of unrelated posts.
Set a realistic frequency. Filling a Daily calendar from a 20 keyword list exhausts it in a month, and Daily costs roughly 9,000 credits a month at 300 credits per article.
After the Calendar is Filled
Each dated item is a plan, not an article. Nothing is written and nothing is charged until either you write it or Autoblog writes it.
You have two ways forward:
- Write them yourself as the dates approach, opening the wizard or Quick Draft from the calendar item.
- Turn on Autoblog, which drafts near publish time and posts to your connected platforms.
Notes
Filling the calendar does not cost credits. Articles are charged when written.
Keyword lists and calendars are both per project.
You can edit or remove any dated item afterwards.
Auto-fill uses the keyword as the topic. Reviewing the resulting titles is worth a few minutes, because a keyword is a search term rather than a headline, and some will read awkwardly as article titles.
