Connect Google Analytics

Open Integrations, choose Google Analytics 4, select Connect with Google, approve every permission checkbox, then pick your property and select Save and sync. NarraSEO only needs read access.

Last updated 1 day ago

Analytics gives NarraSEO your users, sessions, engagement, page views, and acquisition data. The catalog describes it as: "Measure traffic, engagement, key events, and AI referrals."

Listed as Google Analytics 4.

What you Need

  • A Google account with access to your Analytics property.
  • A GA4 property. Universal Analytics is no longer collecting data.

Steps

  1. Open Sidebar β†’ Integrations.
  2. Find Google Analytics 4 under the Analytics category.
  3. Select Connect with Google.
  4. Sign in and approve every permission checkbox Google shows.
  5. Choose your property under Google Analytics property.
  6. Select Save and sync.

You will see "Google resource connected. Sync queued."

You can also start from the Performance page, which offers Connect Google or Finish setup.

Approve Every Checkbox

The product is explicit: "Approve every permission checkbox Google shows."

If one is left unticked you get "Google did not grant every required permission. Sign in again, leave all permission checkboxes selected, and approve access." Reconnect with everything selected.

Read-Only Access

NarraSEO requests read access to view your Analytics properties. It does not modify your property, change settings, or send events.

Choosing the Property

After OAuth you pick which property to use, under Choose a property.

If you manage several, check you are picking the one for the website this project covers. Property names are often similar, and the account and property names in GA4 do not always make the distinction obvious.

Refresh resources reloads the list if you have just created a property.

Once Connected

You see Connected with the property name, plus Sync now, Last sync, Reconnect, and Disconnect.

If it Will Not Connect

Message

What to do

"Google did not grant every required permission"

Reconnect with all checkboxes ticked

"No eligible Analytics properties were found"

The account has no GA4 property. Create one, or use an account that has access.

"Google access expired or was revoked"

Select Reconnect

"Google is receiving too many requests"

Wait a moment and try again

"Google took too long to respond"

Try again

Check your Analytics permissions. You need at least read access to the property. If you were given access to a single view rather than the property, the property may not appear.

Check it is GA4. Universal Analytics properties are not eligible.

Notes

The connection is per project.

Analytics data lags about one day, which is quicker than Search Console's three.

Some figures backfill after the initial connection. You may see "Active users still syncing" or "Still backfilling" for a period, and existing totals stay available while that happens.

Active users are a property-level metric, so they are unavailable when you filter by channel, source, or medium. The page tells you when that applies.

Connecting Google Search Console covers the other source. Reading your traffic and acquisition data covers what the numbers mean.
