Publish an Article to your Site

Once a platform is connected, publishing takes about thirty seconds.

Steps

1. Open the article in the writing workspace.
2. Select Publish in the title bar.
3. Stay on the To your site tab.
4. Choose your Destination.
5. Set the status.
6. Check the featured image and article title options.
7. Select the publish button, which is named for your platform.

Setting the Status

The options depend on the platform.

WordPress shows Post status with Draft, Published, and Scheduled, plus a Publish date field when scheduled, hinted as "Pick a date and time to schedule this post."

Most other platforms show Status with Draft, Publish now, and Schedule, with a Publish date and time field.

Contentful offers Draft and Publish, with no scheduling.

The button changes to match: Save draft to WordPress, Schedule on WordPress, or Publish to WordPress.

Sending as a draft first is the safer habit, particularly on your first few articles. You get to see it in your own CMS with your own theme before anyone else does.

Featured Image

Two options:

• Thumbnail only, described as "Featured image only. Not added to the article body."
• Image in body, described as "Thumbnail plus hero image at the top of the article body."

Which you want depends on your theme. Most themes display the featured image above the post automatically, in which case Thumbnail only avoids showing the same image twice.

If your theme does not display featured images, choose Image in body.

Article Title

Two options:

• CMS title, described as "Title lives in the CMS field only. Your theme shows it."
• Title in body, described as "Title is also added as a heading in the article body."

Same logic. Most themes render the title from the CMS field, so CMS title is right and Title in body would duplicate it.

Both of these are worth getting right once by publishing a test article as a draft and looking at it. After that they stay set.

Platform-Specific Options

WordPress adds Author, with the placeholder "Choose an author", and Category, with "Choose a category".

Shopify asks which blog receives posts. If you have not chosen one you see "Choose a Shopify blog" with the explanation "Your store is linked. Choose which Online Store blog should receive posts, then save." Use Save blog.

Contentful needs field mapping: Content type, Title field, Slug field, and Body field. The content type needs three Symbol or Text fields including one Long text field for the body, since Rich Text is not supported yet.

Brilliant Directories asks for Post type, described as "Choose the Brilliant Directories post type (for example Blog) for this article."

What Gets Sent

The article body with its formatting, images, the featured image, and your SEO title and description where the platform accepts them.

Metadata support varies. On WordPress, the NarraSEO Bridge plugin is recommended because it enables SEO metadata sync and connection health checks.

Notes

Publishing costs no credits.

You can publish the same article again, which updates it on platforms that support updating.

Check the first article you publish on your live site. Themes handle tables, headings, and images differently, and it is better to find that out on one article than on twenty.

If publishing fails, the error names the cause. Broken credentials are the usual reason, and Verify connection on the Integrations page is the quickest way to confirm.

Before you Publish, Worth Two Minutes

1. Read the article. You are responsible for what goes on your site.
2. Check the SEO tab. Title and description are what people see in search results.
3. Open the external links under Guidelines → Keywords → Links.
4. Send it as a draft if this is one of your first few articles.
