Connect Google Search Console

Open Integrations, choose Google Search Console, select Connect with Google, approve every permission checkbox, then choose your site and select Save and sync. NarraSEO only needs read access.

Last updated 1 day ago

Search Console gives NarraSEO your clicks, impressions, CTR, position, top queries, and landing pages. The catalog describes it as: "Track search clicks, impressions, position, and indexing."

What you Need

  • A Google account with access to your site in Search Console.
  • The site already verified in Search Console. NarraSEO reads the property, it does not create or verify one.

Steps

  1. Open Sidebar β†’ Integrations.
  2. Find Google Search Console under the Analytics category.
  3. Select Connect with Google.
  4. Sign in and approve every permission checkbox Google shows.
  5. Back in NarraSEO, choose your site under Search Console site.
  6. Select Save and sync.

You will see "Google resource connected. Sync queued."

You can also start from the Performance page. With nothing connected it offers Connect Google, and with one source connected it offers Finish setup.

Approve Every Checkbox

The instruction in the product is explicit, and it is the single most common failure.

Google presents the permissions as individually tickable, and it is easy to untick one or to click through the screen quickly. If you do, you see "Google did not grant every required permission. Sign in again, leave all permission checkboxes selected, and approve access."

The fix is running the connection again and leaving everything selected.

Read-Only Access

NarraSEO requests read access to view your Search Console sites. It does not submit sitemaps, request indexing, or change anything in your property.

Choosing the Site

After OAuth you pick which property to use, under the heading Choose a site.

Search Console often lists several variants of the same website: with and without www, and http against https. Pick the one that actually receives your traffic, which is normally the https domain property.

Choosing the wrong variant produces a connection that works and reports almost nothing, which is a confusing state to debug later.

Refresh resources reloads the list if you have just added a property.

Once Connected

You see Connected with the site name, plus:

  • Sync now, to pull the latest data.
  • Last sync, or "Not synced yet".
  • Reconnect and Disconnect.

If it Will Not Connect

Message

What to do

"Google did not grant every required permission"

Reconnect, leaving all checkboxes ticked

"No eligible Search Console sites were found"

The Google account has no verified property. Verify the site in Search Console first.

"Google access expired or was revoked"

Select Reconnect

"Google did not finish connecting"

Sign in again and approve access

"You do not have permission to connect or manage Google for this project"

Ask an owner

"Google access was cancelled. No changes were made."

You closed the Google screen. Start again.

Check which Google account you used. If you have several, the connection uses the one you signed in with. It needs access to the property.

Notes

The connection is per project.

Data does not appear instantly. Search Console lags about three days, so a brand new property has little to show.

Disconnecting removes the selected resource and stops NarraSEO using the connection for that project. It does not affect your Search Console account.

Connecting Google Analytics covers the other half. Reading your search performance covers what to do with the data.
