Save and Manage Keyword Lists

Keyword Planner holds the keywords you saved from research. You can shortlist, rename and delete lists, refresh metrics for 50 credits per 1,000 keywords, and start articles or content plans from a list.

Keyword Planner is where keywords live once you have saved them from research. Find it at Sidebar β†’ Plan β†’ Keyword Planner.

Credit figures are as of 2026-08-30.

Saving Keywords from Research

In Keyword Research, select the keywords you want and use Save to Planner. You can add them to an existing list or create a new one.

Adding to an existing list appends rather than replacing, so you can build a list across several research sessions.

Working with Lists

The lists view shows each list with its keyword count, how many are shortlisted, and when it was last updated.

  • Open list to see its keywords.
  • Rename list to change its name.
  • Delete to remove a list.
  • New research to start a fresh search.
  • Back to lists to return.

Deleting a list asks for confirmation first.

Shortlisting

Within a list you can shortlist keywords, which marks the ones you have decided to act on. The shortlisted count is shown alongside the total.

This is the useful distinction in practice: a list is everything you found interesting, and the shortlist is what you are actually going to write about.

Removing a Keyword

Delete individual keywords from a list. If you delete one by accident, Undo restores it, and you will see "Keyword restored."

Refreshing Metrics

Search volume and competition change. Refreshing pulls current figures for a saved list.

This costs 50 credits for up to 1,000 keywords in one refresh. Refresh a whole list at once rather than a few keywords at a time, since the price is the same either way.

You may see a partial result when data is unavailable for some keywords, or a message that no data came back. Neither affects the keywords themselves.

Research and metrics inside Keyword Research are free. Only refreshing a saved list is charged.

Naming Lists So They Stay Useful

Lists accumulate faster than people expect. Names that hold up:

  • By topic cluster, such as "boiler installation" or "heat pumps"
  • By intent, such as "comparison terms" or "buying terms"
  • By project stage, such as "Q3 pillar targets"

Names that do not hold up: "keywords", "new list", "test".

What to Do with a List

Write an article. Start from a keyword and NarraSEO carries the primary keyword and up to 3 secondary keywords into the wizard.

Build a content plan. The Content Calendar can auto-fill open slots from your keyword planner, dating articles across your schedule.

Feed Autoblog. Scheduled posts can draw keywords from your saved lists.

Notes

Lists are per project. Each project has its own keywords, because each project is a different website.

How many keyword rows you can store depends on your plan, from 10,000 on Starter upwards. This is not a limit most people meet.

Searching and filtering inside a list is free.

Reading the metrics columns, and filling your calendar from saved keywords, both have their own articles.
