Share an Article for Review

Share in the title bar opens Share this article, where you copy the article link and choose between Workspace only and Anyone with the link. The public option gives read only access without a NarraSEO account.

Getting a draft in front of a client or a colleague before publishing is done from Share in the title bar.

The dialog is titled Share this article and describes the two options: "Send a workspace link to collaborate, or create a guest link for anyone to view."

Steps

  1. Open the article in the writing workspace.
  2. Select Share in the title bar.
  3. Under Who can access, choose the level you need.
  4. Select Copy link under Article link. You will see "Copied to clipboard".
  5. Send the link.

The Two Access Levels

Workspace Only

"Only people in your workspace can open and edit this article."

The reviewer needs a NarraSEO account, needs to be a member of the workspace, and needs access to the project. In return they can edit rather than only comment, which is what you want from a colleague who writes.

"Viewers don't need a NarraSEO account. Access is read-only."

The right option for clients, stakeholders, and anyone outside your team. They open a link and read. They cannot change anything. The shared page carries a View only badge.

Choose this whenever the reviewer is not going to be a workspace member, because the alternative is inviting someone to your workspace purely to read a draft.

Inviting Workspace Members

The dialog lists People in this workspace with an Invite option, so you can bring a colleague in without leaving the article.

Anyone you invite becomes a workspace member and consumes a user seat, so use the public link if all you need is a read.

Switch Who can access back to Workspace only. The guest link stops working.

Worth doing once a review is finished, particularly for client work, since an unrevoked link stays live indefinitely.

Notes

The public link is read-only. There is no comment feature on the shared view, so feedback comes back to you by whatever channel you already use.

The link points at the live draft, not a snapshot. Edits you make appear to anyone holding the link, which is convenient during a review and worth remembering afterwards.

Preview in the title bar is different: it shows you the article as a reader will see it, without sharing anything.

Sharing does not publish. The article stays where it is until you publish it.

A Workable Review Process

  1. Finish your own editing pass first. Sending a draft you have not read costs you credibility.
  2. Check the SEO tab, since reviewers often comment on the title.
  3. Set Anyone with the link and copy it.
  4. Say what kind of feedback you want. "Check the technical claims in section 3" gets a more useful answer than "any thoughts".
  5. Make the edits in the workspace, and the reviewer sees them on refresh.
  6. Set access back to Workspace only when you are done.
  7. Publish.
