Set Up your First Project
Onboarding has three steps. You enter your website and business name, NarraSEO analyzes the site for about 20 to 30 seconds, then you review and correct the brand profile it built before selecting Onboard.

Onboarding exists to fill in your Brand Profile without you typing it all out. You give NarraSEO your website, it reads the site, and it proposes a profile you correct rather than write from scratch.
This is the highest-value five minutes you will spend in the product. Everything generation produces later reads from what you confirm here.
There are three steps.
Step 1: Enter your Website and Business Name
The first screen is titled Let's set up your first project! When you add a project later, it says Let's set up your brand! instead.
Two fields, both required:
- Website URL. Your homepage, in the form
yourwebsite.com. The helper text explains that NarraSEO will crawl your sitemap to understand your business, services, and content. - Business Name. Often filled in for you. While NarraSEO works it out from the site you will see "Reading business name from the websiteโฆ".
A panel on the right fills in with your name and URL as you type, so you can see the project taking shape.
Select Analyze. The footer notes it takes only about 20 to 30 seconds.
There is no way to skip this step. The site must be live and reachable, or you will see "That website is not active or reachable. Enter a live homepage URL."
Step 2: Wait for the Analysis
The screen reads Analyzing your website, or Analyzing followed by your business name once it knows it. The subtitle repeats that it usually takes 20 to 30 seconds.
You see a percentage and the stage it has reached, in the form "42% ยท Reading pages". The stages are:
- Site structure
- Reading pages
- Services & locations
- Brand voice
- Competitors
- Content profile
Cancel analysis stops it, which is what you want if you entered the wrong address.
In this pass NarraSEO works out your business description, industry, services, target countries and locations, language, brand voice, brand colours, logo and favicon, up to five competitors, target audience, content goal, article length, writing tone, and publishing defaults.
Step 3: Review What it Found
The final step is a brand card holding everything the analysis produced. Each section has a pencil icon that opens an inline editor, and Done closes it.
About
Your business description, industry, location, and language.
Read this properly rather than clicking past it. Two things are commonly worth fixing:
Services. Crawlers pick up navigation labels and page titles, so the list is often broader or vaguer than what you actually sell.
Business description. If your homepage is written in marketing language, the extracted description inherits it. A plainer description produces better articles.
Brand Colors
Primary, secondary, and CTA colours detected from your site. These are used later for AI images, calls to action, and social graphics, so correct them if the detection is off.
Competitors
NarraSEO proposes five, and the editor asks you to keep five: "Keep five competitors. Replace any that aren't right."
Be selective rather than accepting whatever ranks. These are used for gap analysis when you write, so five genuine rivals are worth more than a list padded with directories, marketplaces, and national publishers. Paste a competitor URL and press Enter to replace one.
Content Profile
The defaults for how NarraSEO writes for you:
- Audience. Who you are writing for.
- Goal. Drive organic SEO traffic, generate inbound leads, build brand authority, support local SEO, or educate customers.
- Length. Short is 800 to 1,200 words, Standard is 1,500 to 2,000 and marked recommended, In-depth is 2,500 to 3,000, and Pillar is 3,500 to 4,500.
- Tone. Professional, conversational, friendly, authoritative, educational, persuasive, storytelling, or journalistic.
- Point of view. First person, second person, or third person.
- Autopublish. How often you intend to publish: once a week, twice a week, weekdays, or daily.
These are defaults, not locks. Every article can override any of them.
Finishing
Three buttons in the footer:
- Onboard saves the profile and finishes. This is the one you want.
- Reanalyze runs the analysis again, for when it clearly read the wrong site.
- Edit in Brand Profile takes you to the full Brand Profile, which has considerably more detail than the onboarding card.
Notes
Onboarding creates a project. If you write for several websites or clients, add a project for each rather than mixing them, because each project has its own Brand Profile, integrations, and measurement data.
If you enter a website that already belongs to a project, NarraSEO tells you instead of creating a duplicate. If it belongs to an archived project, you are offered the option to restore it.
You do not have to edit anything. Every field is pre-filled and Onboard accepts them as they are. A thin or inaccurate profile still produces articles, they just read more generically, and the usual fix for disappointing early output is to come back and correct the profile.
If you leave partway through and return, you may see Pick up your analysis? with the option to Continue with the results you already have, or Start over.
Adding More Projects Later
Use Add project in the project switcher at the top of the sidebar. It runs the same three steps.
