Fill in your Business and Audience Details

The Business tab covers your name, industry, description, website, sitemap, social profiles, and services. The Audience tab covers who you write for, target countries, local SEO locations, language, and personas.

These two tabs tell NarraSEO what you do and who you are talking to. They carry more weight on output quality than anything else in the profile.

Open Sidebar β†’ Brand Profile. Changes autosave.

Business Tab

Labelled Business, described as "Name, website, and services".

Field

What to put

Business name

Your trading name. Required for autosave.

Industry

Pick from the list. There are over a hundred, from Roofing to SaaS & Software, plus Other.

Description

What your business does, plainly.

Website

Your site address.

Blog base path

Used when a CMS does not return a public post URL, for example /news or /guides. Defaults to /blog.

Sitemap URL

Helps NarraSEO suggest internal links. Usually https://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml.

Social profiles

LinkedIn, X / Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Google Business Profile. Optional, used for social repurposing and brand context.

Services

Added one at a time with Add service.

Writing the Description

This is the field people get wrong most often, usually by pasting marketing copy from their homepage.

Marketing copy is written to persuade a visitor who is already on your site. A profile description is instructions to a writer. Those are different jobs, and the second one wants plain, specific prose.

Compare:

  • Weak: "We are a leading provider of innovative solutions for the modern homeowner."
  • Better: "We install and repair gas boilers and heat pumps for homeowners in Greater Manchester. Most jobs are replacements of 15 year old systems, and we handle the Gas Safe certification."

The second gives every article something concrete to work from.

Services

Onboarding fills these in from your navigation and page titles, which means they are often too broad or slightly wrong. Correct them.

Services drive topic clusters and keyword suggestions, so a list that matches what you actually sell produces a content plan you would actually publish.

Audience Tab

Labelled Audience, described as "Readers, markets, and rivals".

Field

What to put

Who do you write for?

Your reader. NarraSEO offers suggestions from your profile, and you can refine them.

Target countries

Countries where you operate or want visibility.

Local SEO targeting

Search any city or metro in your target countries.

Language

Primary language for your content and keyword research. Around fifty are available.

Customer personas

Longer descriptions of the people you sell to.

Competitor websites

Up to five. Covered in its own article.

What makes you different?

Your positioning against those competitors.

Describing your Audience Well

Be specific about the person, not the market segment.

  • Weak: "Small and medium businesses."
  • Better: "Marketing managers at 20 to 200 person B2B companies who own content but have no in-house writer."

The second tells the writer what the reader already knows, which is what decides how much an article should explain.

Target Countries and Language

These affect keyword data, spelling, and terminology. If you sell in the United Kingdom, setting the United Kingdom means you get UK search volumes and UK spelling rather than American ones.

Local SEO Targeting

Only relevant if location matters to your business. Add the cities or metros you serve, then use the "Support local SEO" content goal on articles that should target them.

What Makes you Different

Helps NarraSEO position your content against competitors. It is worth a couple of real sentences.

  • Weak: "Better service and quality."
  • Better: "We only take clients in one city, so we can do same-day callouts, which the national chains cannot."

Notes

Both tabs autosave. If saving fails you will see "Couldn't save changes", and nothing is lost from the form.

The description field accepts a large amount of text, so there is no need to be terse. Two or three specific paragraphs beat one vague sentence.

Competitors listed here are used to differentiate your content. NarraSEO will never mention or endorse them in your articles.

What This Changes Downstream

Filling these two tabs properly improves keyword suggestions, topic clusters, the outlines the wizard proposes, how much articles explain versus assume, and the specificity of examples.

It is the difference between an article about your industry and an article about your business.
