Connect Framer

Framer needs your project URL or ID, a CMS collection ID, and a server API key from Site settings. The collection must have a Title field and a rich text Content field.

Framer publishes into a CMS collection, so as with Webflow the collection structure matters.

Available on every plan.

What you Need

  • A Framer project with a CMS collection you manage.
  • The collection needs a Title field, or Name, and a rich text Content field, or Body.
  • A server API key from Site settings.

Step 1: Collect the Details

Project URL or ID. Copy the project URL from Site settings, in the form https://framer.com/projects/Website--aabbccdd1122. The project ID alone also works.

CMS collection ID. Open the Framer CMS collection you want to publish into and copy its Collection ID, which looks like ASh5SZOh.

Server API key. Create a project API key in Framer under Site settings. It begins with frm_.

Step 2: Enter the Credentials

  1. Open Sidebar → Integrations.
  2. Find Framer under Publishing & CMS.
  3. Fill in the three fields:

  1. Select Connect Framer.

Step 3: Verify

Select Verify connection. On success you see "Framer connection verified."

On failure: "Could not verify the Framer connection. Check the project URL, collection ID, and API key."

Publishing Options

Framer uses Draft, Publish now, and Schedule, with a Publish date and time field, plus the Featured image and Article title toggles.

If it Will Not Connect

The collection is not user-managed. Framer collections synced from an external source cannot receive posts. It has to be a collection you manage inside Framer.

Missing the rich text Content field. The body needs somewhere to go. A plain text field will not do, because the article has headings, lists, and links.

The collection ID is from the wrong collection. Check you opened the blog collection rather than a category or author collection.

The API key was revoked. Regenerate it in Site settings and reconnect.

Notes

Framer publishing sends to the CMS. You may still need to publish the site in Framer for the post to appear on your live domain.

Rich text rendering depends on how your Framer components are set up. Check your first article on the live site before publishing more.

The connection is per project.
